Added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site in June 2014, the Contratto cellar is a unique and fascinating experience. The original cellar known as the “Underground Cathedrals”, because of the vaulted ceiling, is an extended architectonic fortune that wiggle below the entire city of Canelli for about 20 kilometres and disappear 32 meter deep thus creating really suggestive scenarios: real masterpieces of engineering and architecture storing thousands of bottles of Asti Spumante, one of the Italy’s best selling sparking wines.
The excursion includes a lunch in a typical trattoria and a stop in a dramatic and impressive privately-owned Castle for a private tour conducted by the owner.
